Linda Hirsch

Producer

Linda Hirsch has been making news documentaries since 1996. Most recently with DocGroup, she was a producer on America in Primetime, a four-hour series about the history of scripted TV that aired on PBS in 2011. She has been a producer with DocGroup since its inception and worked on news documentaries with the team of Peter Jennings and Tom Yellin for over a decade.

Linda was a producer on the 2012 PBS Frontline series, Money, Power & Wall Street, a four-hour investigation into the origins of the financial meltdown. Prior to that she produced the two-hour ABC News special, Earth 2100, about the possible convergence of environmental threats in the next century. She also produced the principle interviews for the theatrically released documentary, Every Little Step, that follows the 2006 Broadway revival of A Chorus Line.

Linda first came to work with Tom Yellin and Peter Jennings in 1995 on the ABC News documentary, Rage & Betrayal: the Lives of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. She went on to work with Peter Jennings on many acclaimed documentaries over the course of 10 years, including the Emmy Award-winning episode of The Century series, In Search of the Promised Land, about Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Memphis sanitation strike, and the Emmy award-winning Peter Jennings Reporting: The Gun Fight, an investigation of the National Rifle Association.

Also for the Peter Jennings Reporting series, Linda was a co-producer of From the Tobacco File: Untold Stories of Betrayal and Neglect, How To Get Fat Without Really Trying, about the nation’s obesity crisis, and Peter’s final documentary, Breakdown: America’s Health Insurance Crisis.  Other projects with the Peter Jennings Reporting team include Bitter Medicine: Pills, Profit and the Public Health, an investigation of the pharmaceutical industry, Pot of Gold, about the domestic marijuana business, and The American Game, a look at Little League baseball.

Before arriving at ABC News, Linda was at CBS News, where she worked as a researcher and associate producer at the documentary unit CBS Reports and the weekly magazine series West 57th,and Our Times with Bill Moyers.

Linda graduated from Wellesley College and received a master’s degree in English Literature from Columbia University. She is married with two children and lives in New York City.
