Tom Yellin

Co-Founder and President

As co-founder and president of The Documentary Group, Tom Yellin has overseen all productions since the company’s inception in 2006. These critically acclaimed projects include 2016 Academy Award nominated feature documentary, CARTEL LAND (Winner of three Emmys, including Exceptional Documentary Filmmaking, as well as Best Director and Best Cinematography at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival), America in Primetime, a premier series on PBS showcasing the creative minds behind the new golden age of television; the Peabody award-winning ABC News Special, To Iraq and Back: Bob Woodruff Reports; the Academy Award nominated documentary Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience; and Girl Rising, a film that inspired a global social action campaign for girls’ education.

VP of Content Development

Jo Budzilowicz currently oversees all projects in development at the Documentary Group, working closely with directors, producers and clients to develop projects ranging from limited series to feature docs to branded content, from conception to green light. Recent projects include the feature docs Midsummer in Newtown and Academy Award nominated Cartel Land.

Co-Founder & Senior Producer of Girl Rising

Kayce Freed Jennings has extensive experience in both television news and documentaries. Before co-founding DocGroup – and helping to start its predecessor, PJ Productions – she spent 20 years at ABC News, covering international and national news and producing for virtually every broadcast in the network news division. She was on the staffs of Nightline, World News Tonight, Day One and 20/20, and based in London, Atlanta and New York.

Richard E. Robbins is an award-winning writer, director, and producer whose work includes both fiction and non-fiction. His work has been honored by the International Documentary Association, the Directors Guild, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, The Columbia DuPont Awards, and many others. He is a founding partner of DocGroup.

Production & Post-Production Coordinator

Dana Germano is proud to be a part of The Documentary Group team as a Production and Post Coordinator, supporting the productions in the office, int he field, and in the edit.

Dana began working as a Post Coordinator on unscripted and scripted projects such as Kosher Soul (Lifetime), The Approval Matrix (Sundance TV), Money & Violence (Lionsgate, Tidal), and Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee (Showtime, Toronto International Film Festival).

Senior Producer

Wendy Roth’s award winning career in TV News, documentaries and unscripted shows spans over 25 years. Before joining The Documentary Group she worked at ISH entertainment as EVP and executive producer, overseeing TV series for multiple cable networks. She also executive produced the documentary Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and aired on Showtime and Sag Harbor, about a historic African American enclave in the middle of Long Island’s Hamptons.
